The Outsiders

The Outsiders is a story about two very different groups of teenagers who always fight with each other, because of their social standings. Some of the main characters are Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny, Dally and Ponyboys two brothers: Darry and Sodapop. Ponyboy and his gang, are labeled greasers because of there hair, poor income, and basic lifestyle. The other group of teenagers, are called the Socs. They are very rich people, with high standards. One night, a group of Socs end up jumping Ponyboy and Johnny. Johnny kills one of the Socs, and immediately, the two boys flee to a different town. They hide out there for a while, with barely any food, and after about a week, one of the gang members, Dally, comes to get them. A church starts on fire and a bunch of little kids are trapped inside. They boys attempt to save them, but get badly hurt in the process. One character ends up dying, but I wont ruin that for you. After this whole ordeal occurs, the Socs and Greasers get into what they call, a Rumble. That is pretty much, this huge brawl, that is based on pride. Whoever wins, is "the best". This story, isn't just about the two classes of people, but is mostly about friendship, and trust in ones family. This is a very great book, and I highly suggest it to anyone who likes surprises! ~K~
